Vallejo: "Playing against Cadiz will be an important and special game for me"

Sunday's game against Cadiz CF sees a return to the Ramon de Carranza for Manu Vallejo, a player born and raised at the Andalusian club but now representing Valencia CF. It is the striker's first game back at the stadium he calls home, and he will be looking to put on a good showing for the occasion.

"It's a very important and very special game. I'm returning to Cadiz for the first time in a long while. I've never played at the Ramon de Carranza on the away team. I'm very excited and fully focused on having a good game and taking the win," he told VCF Media this week.

"I get goosebumps when I think about it. Thinking about arriving at the stadium and it being completely different to what I did a few years ago. In the end, I'm at a club where we are the lucky few; this is one of the strongest clubs in Spain, and I'm where I want to be. I've always said that. I consider Cadiz to be my home, but I'm focused here and I have to fight for the win there with a good game."

Valencia CF have had mixed away form this season, and are looking to carry over some of their results at home to their travels.

"The team need to improve on our recent showings away from home. I think that we all know what kind of game awaits us. It's going to be very tough, and Cadiz are fighting near the bottom of the table. I'm sure that they are going to get out of that situation. It's going to be a very tough game and we've been preparing for it for a while," explains Vallejo.

"The team are feeling good, with high morale and a lot of good energy. We've been having good games at home, and this international break has helped us to disconnect a little and regain strength. I think that we've spent a while preparing this game. We are aware that there are ten games to go, which are all very important. We have to do things well, starting on Sunday -which right now is the most important game that we have."

As for what he will do if he scores at the Ramon de Carranza, Vallejo says not to expect any wild celebrations.

"I've said before that I won't celebrate a goal against Cadiz. I'll be happy, because I'm going there to score and to win, but I couldn't celebrate a goal. I don't think I'd be able to."
